HEMP, THE ULTIMATE PLANT!
Hemp belongs to the family of Cannabinaceae, whose cientific name is Cannabis Sativa.
Hemp relates to the variety in which the THC level (Tetrahidrocannabinol, psychotropic part of the plant) is lower than 0,2%. Canam Hemp & Health grows in Andalusia. Our seeds are certified by the Europen Union and our food is THC free. Our products will never cause psychoactive effects nor a fake positive result on a drug test.
Hemp was the most grown and used plant by humans for 8.000 years for its many uses. It contains exceptional characteristics and it was linked with some of the greatest discoveries.
Hemp History
This plant already grew wild but also was grown by humans worldwide before being regulated by law. Many civilizations have seen the importance of hemp through its textile, industrial and medical development.
During millions of years, hemp has been used and commercialized from China to India, Middle East, Europe and America. Hemp was one of the most important medicinal plants existing and at the same time was the most grown. Furthermore, it had an essential importance for its nutritious features and healthy benefits. Its usage makes you perfectly balance your amino acids, oils and fatty acids, also balanced on Omega-3, Omega-6 and very rich in proteins. It is the perfect mix for your well-being.
Hemp has also been used as raw material to create countless food products, textiles (Western Royal clothing was factored with a mix of hemp and linen), construction materials (some pyramids were mainly maid out of concrete hemp), paper, letters, etc. Also the sails and ropes from the boats that conquered the world were made of hemp fibers.
This source was fundamental for the economy and self-sufficiency of the countries. Actually, growing hemp was George Washington´s first command when elected president of the United States so he would not have to rely on Europe´s production and also have their own press independent from the British Court.
Hemp paper was the perfect format. It can be used as paper (the first printed Bible by Gutenberg was made of hemp paper), letters, warping, canvas,… Hemp canvas are strong and resistants to heat, insects and sun light, and for that reason, painters like Van Gogh, Leonardo Da Vinci, Picasso, Gainsborough,Rembrandt (among others) would do their paintings on hemp canvas which have lasted through centuries now.
This plant has been linked to humanity for millenniums. Taking into account its benefits and history we might ask ourselves why its usage has decreased this much? Theory or conspiracy?
Hemp was under the pressure of the cotton industry lobbies, the chemistry (oil and nylon) and a big part of the press were advertising against the plant. This advertising was made by the tycoons of the industries mentioned above to eliminate the competitiion form the hemp industry.
The fusion between recreational cannabis and hemp was the perfect excuse to discredit the plant and prohibit the use of this competitive raw material. On the 2nd of August of 1937, The Law of Marijuana prohibited the use of hemp as being related to marijuana. This legislation was the main responsible for the massive deforestation in Canada and the United States.
Hemp paper benefits:
Hemp paper does not require whitening pollutant cloring.
It can be recycled from 7 to 8 times versus conventional paper which can only be recycled 2 or 3 times.
Hemp fibre harvest produces 4 times more paper than trees. Hemp maturity is reached in 4 to 6 months. However, trees are cut down at the age of 20 years.
It is time to put things in place with common sense: hemp helps to solve hunger, deforestation and pollution issues.
Hemp based fuel benefits, biopetrol:
Oil from hemp seeds can be converted into biodiesel.
Hemp can be used as reusable fuel.
It is environmental friendly and works directly with most of diesel engines.
No hydrocarbon drops, low carbon-monoxide emission.
It offers self-sufficiency and guarantees the lack of deprivation and it is also biodegradable.
Hemp plastic benefits:
Nowadays, the majority of plastics are made out of petroleum (non biodegradable).
Hemp fibre contains a very high cellulose which allows to produce plastic off vegetal cellulose, this plastic being more resistant than conventional plastic and 100% biodegradable.
The hemp based plastic degrades right after 80 days.
Replacing wood based paper with hemp based paper, as same for hemp fuel and hemp plastic, would have a great impact on deforestation in our planet.
Jack Herer, an American activist, stated in his book The Emperor Wears No Clothes in 1985, that if we forbid all fossil fuel and by-products, the usage of trees to make paper and construction to save the world, reverse the greenhouse effect and stop deforestation, only then, there is only one natural resource capable of providing all the paper and textiles for the world, satisfying all our needs in transport, industry and energy and at the same time reducing pollution, creating a new ground while cleaning the atmosphere…
This resource has always been the same for this purpose – cannabis, hemp! He is not saying that hemp will save the world… but at least it is the only capable of it...
